My name is Ethel MacArthur. I live in Mission, British Columbia, Canada. Currently, I am a Certified Life and Weight Coach by Brooke Castillo’s ‘The LifeCoach School’. My coaching focus is on helping women, who are above 60 years of age, discover their untapped creative potential. Women in this age group are considered to be in Phase Three of Adult Development.

After graduating as a Registered Nurse (RN) in 1971, I worked as an RN for fifty years. During those years, I returned to university to complete my Bachelor of Nursing (BScN) in 1989 and obtained my Masters of Science (MSN) degree in Clinical Nurse Education in 1993. My roles included: hospital nursing, nursing educator, community developer, community health nursing, leadership and mentoring. I have worked with individuals and groups across the lifespan, from prenatal to end of life.

After my retirement three years ago, I pursued my dream of becoming a life coach. I first imagined this impossible goal thirty-five years ago but chose to pursue my rewarding nursing career instead, with no regrets. Since my certification, I have coached my clients on many topics including Covid 19 related issues, time management, over sugaring, overeating, overdrinking, uncertainty, anxiety, decision making, family relationships, establishing a business, retirement planning, goal setting, advanced care planning, and end-of-life care planning, grief and loss. I am a general life-coach and I am passionate about helping my clients see what they are truly capable of!

                                                                                                            My Life Story

I was born in 1948 in Vancouver, British Columbia and was raised in a small Northern town, just under the Alaskan Panhandle, called Prince Rupert. After graduation, I moved back down ‘South’ to study Nursing, got married, and lived abroad until returning to Prince Rupert where we started to raise our 3 daughters. In 1985, after an amicable divorce, I returned to Vancouver where I was a single mom, of my beautiful and amazing daughters, for 17 years. During those childrearing years, I obtained my bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing Science. I also became a Yoga teacher, a Transcendental Meditator, and a Healing Touch Practitioner. As you can likely see, I am passionate about lifelong learning and I found Nursing to be a varied and fulfilling career because I love helping people of all ages and states of health.

Fast forward to 2003 when I married my amazing husband, Cliff, who has 4 awesome children, whom I also consider to be my children, and, together we have 13 grandchildren who delight us daily. I continued to work as a Public Health Nurse until I retired in 2017 after 50 career years.

Why did I start a Coaching career at 72?

Two years after my retirement, I was looking for greater fulfillment. In 2019, I enrolled in Self Coaching Scholars, and in 2020 I became certified. I am very excited to start working with you!
